Bio: Marcus Lewis
A creative writer who holds a Master’s in American Studies from Columbia University, Marcus has been working as a college admissions consultant for nearly two decades. In that time, he has helped literally hundreds of students develop their profiles, organize their academic careers, create signature accomplishments, strategize college lists, and build the application packages that capture the essence of who they are and demonstrate the types of traits and values colleges like to see. Marcus stresses a conversation-driven approach that is based around getting to know the student as a person first and as a project to mold for college applications second. Having worked for a number of consulting firms over the years, Marcus has seen the ways other firms treat students as prizes to claim instead of human beings and has vowed to never operate in the same manner.
With that said, Marcus will help his students receive prizes. Over the years, Marcus has specialized in helping his students with writing. He has taught courses on the John Locke Global Essay Prize and helped roughly 35% of students get shortlisted over the years. Additionally, he has helped students win other essay and writing competitions, launch businesses, create websites and podcasts, create clubs and charities, and publish research. Marcus has worked with students all over the world too and knows the ins and outs of most high school curricula and the secrets to getting perfect or near-perfect scores on tests like the SAT and ACT. He has worked with students of virtually every personality type and learning need and uses the extensive knowledge he’s gained across disciplines to help students find not only the schools they can get into but schools in which they will thrive.
